Is it a sin for Christians to swear?

What about if you swear for entertainment purposes? For example, Mark Wahlberg is a practicing Catholic but his role as Sgt. Dignam in "The Departed" required him to swear every other line. Mel Gibson swears maybe once or twice in "Ransom" and Duane Chapman (aka Dog The Bounty Hunter) swears several times per episode.
